How this Newcastle entrepreneur hopes to push his luck with new Kickstarter campaign
North East businessman Graham Taylor has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of his new casino-based board game, Push your Luck.
Graham, who runs Newcastle-based management consultancy Performance Improvement Associates Ltd, has developed the game with his old school friend and fellow business associate David Grant.
He explains: “Push your Luck is a game of skill, tactics and luck, based on the casino floor and is designed to bring out the ruthless, competitive streak in us all.
“We’re aiming to raise £30,000 through Kickstarter to be able to develop the game, bring a publisher on board and develop a digital edition.
“Inspiration for Push your Luck came from many years of working alongside casino clients, as part of my consultancy role.
“David and I have both set up our own businesses from scratch and David’s publishing business, Infinite Ideas, was part-funded by investors. As such, we felt well placed to take our initial idea for a board game forward, through crowd funding and to fruition.”
Graham and David have engaged the board gaming community throughout Push your Luck’s development phase and are hoping the recent surge in board game popularity will benefit their Kickstarter campaign.
Graham said: “We’ve spent the last 18 months testing the game. Initially we harnessed feedback from family and friends, then we embarked on a schedule of extensive field testing with gaming groups, board gamers and casino players from across the country.
“We’ve listened to their comments, suggestions and criticisms and we’re now confident that Push your Luck is ready to launch.
“We’ve a range of rewards available to investors, starting from two packs of limited edition Push your Luck playing cards for pledges of £10, up to a completely personalised, bespoke edition of the game available for pledges of £250 or more.”
