Language communications firm launches new app to ‘radically improve’ interpreters experience

thebigword, the Leeds-based language services provider, has announced the launch of a new mobile phone app designed specifically to support interpreters.

The new app will present users with a dashboard for scheduling bookings, accepting or declining offers of work, showing non-availability and their individual profile.

The schedule section includes all confirmed bookings, which are located on an online map with directions.

The bookings section includes all information such as dates, locations, request types – face to face, video remote, telephone or video interpreting – and specific instructions.

The app also allows linguists to submit timesheets and verify these on the spot with clients.

The company said that following a pilot carried out with a selection of linguists, the app has been modified to take into consideration feedback and suggestions from the linguist community.

Larry Gould, founder and CEO of thebigword, said: “Our state of the art linguist app is an incredibly exciting development and will radically improve the linguist experience by putting power directly into their hands.

“It will allow them to manage their booking schedule, anytime and anywhere, stay in control of their diaries and find their next appointment.

“We hope linguists will find it a valuable tool to manage their work and maximise their assignment opportunities and productivity.”

Commenting on the new app, interpreter Habibulla Josefi said: “the App works perfectly and covers all elements concerning me as a linguist.”
