Bright Hospitality Group acquires 37-bedroomed hotel in Sheffield
Bright Hospitality Group (BHG) has completed the acquisition of Sheffield hotel Staindrop Lodge.
The acquisition of the 37-bedroomed hotel, located in the north Sheffield suburb of Chapeltown, marks the group’s tenth site.
The deal was brokered by leisure property specialist Fleurets, which was instructed by the hotel’s co-owners David Slade and John Wigfield.
The building dates from the early 19th century, but was extended in 2003. The hotel comprises 37 en-suite bedrooms as well as a range of public rooms including ‘1806 Brasserie’ restaurant which has 100 covers.
The hotel bar, ‘Toms’, can seat around 60, whilst a further 28 can be seated in the adjoining conservatory; the hotel also has conference facilities.
The premises was marketed off an asking price of £1.6m.
Nick Thomas of Fleurets commented: “The marketing of Staindrop Lodge attracted a great deal of interest from both individual and group buyers, nationwide as well as overseas investors. This demonstrates the strong demand for hotels we are currently experiencing.”
David Slade and John Wigfield commented: “We have enjoyed our time at Staindrop Lodge, having developed the hotel from 12 bedrooms when we bought it in 2012, to a successful all round hotel with 37 bedrooms.
“We are pleased to see that the hotel will continue to trade along the lines we have developed with Bright Hospitality Group who are experienced hotel operators.
“Our thanks go to our professional advisers and in particular Nick Thomas at Fleurets who was recommended to us and who provided honest and straightforward guidance and advice.”
BHG acquired its first site in 2005, and more recently purchased the 42-bedroomed Cheltenham Regency Hotel in Gloucestershire, through Chris Irving at the Bristol branch of Fleurets.
Zishan Zaman from BHG added: “Our purchase of Staindrop Lodge marks the tenth hotel for Bright Hospitality Group.
“Our hotels extend from the South West to the North of England and we pleased to add Staindrop Lodge to our group.”
