Denton-based Bedmaker Textiles acquired by £12m-turnover firm Evans Textiles

Denton-based Bedmaker Textiles has been acquired by Ancoats firm Evans Textiles.

The shareholders of Bedmaker were advised on the deal by a team from HURST Corporate Finance.

Founded in 1975, the company employs 15 staff and distributes home textiles such as duvet sets, bedspreads, valances, curtains, throws, towels and nursery products.

The firm has built a supplier base over the last 42 years that includes high street and out-of-town stores, as well as mail order companies and wholesalers. Internationally, Bedmaker works with businesses in Portugal, Turkey, India and the Far East.

Family-owned Evans has a turnover of almost £12m, employs over 40 people and supplies soft furnishings, curtains and textiles for the hospitality, healthcare, education, marine and commercial sectors.

HURST Corporate Finance associate partner Ian Dawson and corporate finance executive Ryan Niblock acted for Bedmaker in the transaction.

Ian said: “Bedmaker is a great business with an excellent reputation. It was crucial to the shareholders that the business should be acquired by a company with the same values and passion for the brand so its growth could continue.

“There are lots of synergies with Evans Textiles and I am sure Bedmaker will continue to thrive under its new ownership.”

He added: “It was a pleasure to work with the shareholders on this transaction and I am delighted that we have secured the right deal for them.”

Bedmaker’s shareholders were given legal advice by Mark Winthorpe and Arshnoor Amershi, of Pannone Corporate.
