Gift Wink: The new website that will do your Christmas shopping so you don't have to

A new website, Gift Wink, is aiming to help consumers tackle their Christmas shopping by providing personalised gift lists for their family and friends.

A recent survey of nearly 500 respondents, by Gift Wink, from across the UK found that 84 per cent of people have received a gift they do not want or like, but only nine per cent have been able to admit this.

The company is aiming to change this experience with a platform that allows consumers to find presents they want, and can set up a profile on the company’s site and share key information on who they are purchasing for.

Alex Farrell, CEO and co-founder, said: “Gifting is an enormous industry that is ripe for an overhaul. With so much of our lives lived online these days, there is no excuse for getting a gift wrong or forgetting a birthday! But the amount of choice we have is overwhelming.”

Therefore, Gift Wink has ‘buyers’ - or Gift Spotters - for users to rely on, who they share these lists with and the Spotter will find items based on your preferences. The more users tend to engage with the platform, the more their matches will become more curated to fit their style.

The website was co-founded by Alex Farrell and Rebecca McAra. Their frustrations of remembering birthdays along with growing Christmas presents to buy, made them eager to find a way to make the process a lot less complicated in present buying and giving.

Farrell continued: “We wanted to use technology to match gift buyers with the perfect gift and remind them to buy it in plenty of time. No more hours spent trawling the internet for present inspiration - our gift matching system will source the perfect one every time.

“There’s no better time to use it than Christmas when the amount of time spent on gifting can get out of hand. Gift Wink does the work, and you take the credit!”

Gift Wink saves key dates and intelligence about the person you’re buying for, so you will be notified weeks in advance with a unique selection. In addition, you are able to sort a present and have it delivered without having to leave the Gift Wink website.

This week, Gift Wink is giving its subscribers 15 per cent off all items for Black Friday.
