North West barristers’ chambers to leverage growth with new Preston base

Liverpool-headquartered barristers firm Oriel Chambers has moved its Preston team to The Light Building.

The company signed a long-term lease for space at the development, located on Walker Street in the heart of Preston’s commercial district.

Oriel Chambers, which opened in the city in 2008, was previously based at Ribblesdale Place in Winckley Square.

The company’s other office is housed within a listed property on Liverpool’s Water Street.

Oriel Chambers said it will use its new base at The Light Building to grow its presence across Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria.

PCS Law, the commercial arm of Liverpool law firm Paul Crowley & Co Solicitors, represented Oriel Chambers in the acquisition of the new premises.

Sarah Cavanagh, Chambers director, said: “Over the past few years, our Preston Chambers has enjoyed a period of sustained market growth, during difficult economic times.

“Moving to the new, bespoke and modern premises enables us to provide high specification facilities to greater support our members, staff and client base, whilst keeping overheads to a minimum.”

She continued: “We appointed PCS Law to look after Oriel Chambers’ interests. Derek Dawson, head of commercial litigation at PCS Law, exceeded all expectations by expediting the transaction well within the time scales that we had anticipated.”

Derek Dawson of PCS Law commented: “[We] were delighted to be entrusted by one of the North West’s pre-eminent Barristers’ Chambers and welcomed acting for such a well informed and commercial organisation.”
