Harrogate firm to open celebrity chef-backed restaurant and hotel in Manchester
A North Yorkshire property company is expanding its North West offering with a new leisure scheme in Manchester.
Located at the gateway to the city centre’s £800m NOMA development, the project will see Harrogate-headquartered BH Group create a new restaurant, café and hotel with 187 guestrooms.
The development, which incorporates the Grade II-listed City Buildings, will rise to 14 storeys once complete.
BH Group said the dining element will be led by a celebrity chef – although their identity is yet to be disclosed.
BH Group’s founder and managing director, James Houlston, said: “Several years ago we made a significant shift in strategy away from the small business unit market and diversified into two new sectors: renewable energy, via our sister company BH EnergyGap, and hospitality.
“Our development in Manchester, which is on track to open in September 2018, is one of a number of projects we are currently developing, and forms part of our overall long-term strategy to create a portfolio of hotels and other income-producing assets.”
BH Group has previously completed other schemes in Greater Manchester, among them the The Embankment in Stockport and South Manchester’s Christie Fields.
