Liverpool architecture practice sees five Merseyside projects approved
Architecture firm Falconer Chester Hall is celebrating after seeing five of its Merseyside developments approved today (December 19) by Liverpool City Council.
The authority’s planning committee gave the thumbs up for a waterfront office development, residential apartments, a hotel and student accommodation designed by the Liverpool-headquartered company.
Among the greenlit projects was a plan to create a 48,500 sq ft, four-storey office complex for telecoms business The Contact Company at Monarch’s Quay.
With approval given, work could soon start on a wider plan to turn the plot into a “huge” riverside destination within Kings Dock.
Also approved were three projects for Wolstenholme Square Developments across Seel Street, Slater Place and Wolstenholme Square.
The Seel Street scheme is a 122-bed hotel, to operate under The Times by Vincent brand and ranging from five to seven storeys. The development has replaced previously approved plans for an apart-hotel.
At Slater Place, builders will deliver a seven-storey building with a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. The scheme is located on the site of the former Saw Mill building, which was demolished following a fire in 2016.
Elsewhere, approval was granted for amendments to a previous consent. The decision means a development on Wolstenholme Square will now comprise four buildings, ranging from seven and 10 storeys and housing 448 residential units.
The student accommodation consent, for a project on Devon Street, will create 44 studio rooms, 80 bedrooms across 10 clusters and two ground-level commercial units.
