DV8 Designs breathes new life into Castle Street's latest venue
DV8 Designs has transformed a Liverpool city centre eatery into a ‘contemporary cool’ cocktail lounge.
The Warrington based interior design company was selected to revamp Castle Street venue, Rox Your World, incorporating design elements such as neon signage, feature lighting and a complementary colour scheme.
The five-figure sum project saw Managing Director Lee Birchall and the team create a unique space designed with leisurely lunches and cocktail nights in mind.
Lee said: “The total scale of the project included a full renovation of the ground floor space to breathe a new lease of life into the venue. The design brief pays homage to elements of the original bar, but the space has been given a complete refresh to create an upmarket cocktail bar akin to its highly sought-after location. It was important for us to stay in keeping with the high end feel of Castle Street and to complement the neighbouring establishments whilst implementing our own unique feel to make this venue truly stand out from the crowd.
“For a luxurious feel we incorporated a palette of emerald green, navy blue, copper, and pastel blush pink tones used against opulent finishes such as light lime washed oak and marble. For a fun pop of colour, we introduced splashes of neon pink and burnt orange into the upholstery, which also aligns the interior with the venue’s new branding with neon signage on the exterior really capturing the attention of customers and passers-by alike. The unique feature lighting over the bar, with exposed lamps and copper finishes, really draws the eye to the rear of the property from street level and encourages people to enter the bar. To enhance the homely atmosphere of the bar, comfort was essential, and the use of lounge seating means that guests can stay for hours in a relaxed setting with friends, family or colleagues.”
Established in 2006, Warrington based DV8 Designs is an architecture and interior design practice that prides itself on its thorough approach, innovative ideas and a portfolio that comprises several impressive projects nationwide for several high-profile brands in the hospitality, commercial, property and residential sectors.
Lee added: “It was a challenge to utilise the space, which is narrow in width but long in length, and had previously made this charismatic space appear dark and uninviting. However, with careful placements and use of colour, we have achieved a fantastic finish that both ourselves and the venue owners are delighted with. It was a priority for us to achieve a heightened sense of space to enhance the customer experience and, we used an abundance of mirrors to create an open feel, complimented by a feature mirror and timber wall to the very rear of the property.”
