Silk Rd adds Liverpool City Centre to culinary trail
Silk Rd is set to open a second eatery in the heart of Liverpool City Centre next month.
Owned by business partners Chris Williams and Javier Mellado, the restaurant concept takes its inspiration from the cross-continental Silk Road trail, serving up a unique blend of flavours sourced from the Pacific to The Mediterranean.
Silk Rd first established its Heswall site earlier this year and has invested a five-figure sum into the opening of a second site in Liverpool’s Beetham Plaza.
Chris said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing Silk Rd to Liverpool in the New Year and it’s certainly all systems go as we prepare for our January opening, whilst also enjoying our first Christmas in the Heswall site. Since the establishment of our site in Heswall, the Silk Rd concept has been a huge hit with both the town’s residents and Liverpool locals alike which has brought us to a position where we can open a second, more central site.
“Boasting 140-seated capacity over 4,000 sq. ft. with stunning views of the Liver Buildings, Silk Rd Liverpool will become a spacious yet cosy haven for guests to relax whether they are joining us for lunch, dinner or a casual drink including an outdoor seating area perfect for groups looking to enjoy spectacular views. The location in Beetham Plaza is one of the city’s many hidden gems and as soon as we saw the site, we instinctively knew that this would be the ideal venue for our expansion into the city centre.”
Silk Rd’s menu highlights include Persian Lamb coated with Rosemary, Garlic, Sea Salt and Black Peppercorn served with Cous Cous, Malaysian Steak laid on a bed of Rocket and topped with Hoisin, Teriyaki and Soy Sauce, Yaour Tlou Savoury Beef Kebabs topped with a Greek Yogurt and Spiced Tomato Sauce dusted with Paprika and Moroccan Salad to name a few.
Javier added: “Guests joining us at the Liverpool location can expect a selection of our Heswall menu highlights with the addition of unique dishes and tapas as part of an ever-changing menu which captures authentic cuisine found along the Silk Road. The concept brings together exotic flavours served in a cosy and quirky setting reminiscent of colourful scenes from cities along the Silk Road route. The restaurant décor is influenced by our own travels and the menu is full of dishes that we have tried and fallen in love with along the way.
“We always wanted to launch Silk Rd in the suburbs initially but with our close connections to Liverpool, it was inevitable that our move to the city would soon follow. We have enjoyed great success in Heswall which has enabled us to expand the business after just six months. It has been incredibly exciting for the entire team and we look forward to sharing our concept with the people of the Liverpool in the New Year.”
