Manchester City sign Marcus Jorgensen
Manchester City have today (December 22) announced a deal to sign Marcus ‘ExpectSporting’ Jorgensen as their newest esports player.
Joining the club as a dedicated PlayStation4 (PS4) player, the 18-year-old gamer will now represent MCFC in FIFA tournaments and other competitive events around the world.
The agreement is City’s second esports appointment to date, following on from the signing of Kieran ‘Kez’ Brown, who plays for the club on the Xbox platform.
Jorgensen competed at the FIFA Interactive Club World Cup in August, when he defeated rivals from top European football clubs and reached the Grand Final in London.
He commented: “I’m extremely happy to be stepping into the next chapter of my esports career with Manchester City.
“2017 represented such a successful season for me and I have the drive and ambition to take my game to the next level.”
Nuria Tarre, chief marketing officer of MCFC owner City Football Group, said: “We’re really excited to be signing Marcus to represent Manchester City in tournaments and fan events around the world.
“He has already demonstrated that he can compete amongst the best esports FIFA players around so we can’t wait to see how he progresses.”
