Interiors company Penketh Group acquires Wirral-based office supplies business
Interiors firm Penketh Group has snapped up a Wirral-based photocopier and office supplies company.
Penketh Group today (January 4) announced its acquisition of Currie Business Services, adding the company’s six staff to its own 80-strong team.
The acquisition follows a year of growth for the Bromborough-based fit-out business, which saw its revenues rise year on year by 10.6% to £12.5m in 2017.
Currie Business Services, founded in 1991 by entrepreneurial brothers Brian and David Currie, has a customer network spanning Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales.
Following the deal with Penketh Group, the firm will continue to operate under the Currie brand.
Mark Penketh, managing director at Penketh Group, said: “Our two businesses have a very similar ethos and were a natural fit when the opportunity came along to acquire Currie.
“We had an existing photocopier division in our business but Currie’s moves us to another level, particularly in terms of engineering excellence.”
He continued: “This is the latest strategic acquisition for Penketh Group following our purchase of Manchester Office Supplies earlier this year.”
Speaking further, Mark said his company’s goal is to achieve a £20m turnover by 2020, adding: “We have made significant progress in the last 12 months and have further plans to accelerate our growth plan over the coming months.”
Brian Currie commented: “We are pleased to pass the reins of our company on to Penketh Group, a business that started out like ourselves as a family business and which shares common values and goals.”
Last year, Penketh opened an interior design showroom on the eighth floor of the Neo development in Manchester.
