Bellway acquires land near Wigan for ‘stunning’ residential scheme

Housebuilder Bellway Homes has acquired over 12 acres of land near Wigan.

The Newcastle-headquartered company will transform the site, located off Pocket Nook in Lowton, into a residential development of 119 homes.

The properties will comprise a mix of three and four bedrooms across both semi-detached and detached designs.

Bellway said a large green open space will serve as the focal point of the scheme.

Pocket Green is situated near the A580, M60 and M6, in close proximity Wigan town centre, Warrington, Manchester and Liverpool.

Louise Chamberlain, sales director at Bellway Homes, said: “The plans for Pocket Green are superb; it promises to be a stunning residential development.

“Perfectly placed and offering a fantastic range of three and four bedroom homes on a spacious site, we are confident Pocket Green will be in huge demand.”

Of the 119 properties in the development, 20 are marked as affordable units and 10 will be sold to a housing association for affordable rent, Bellway confirmed.

The company has also committed to making a financial contribution to the local community, which includes £752,675 towards local infrastructure.

Groundworks are now underway at Pocket Green. A sales launch is due this Spring.
