Leeds language communications firm thebigword launches new office in Boston
thebigword, the global translation and interpretation service provider, is opening a new office in Boston as part of a project to provide better language services to businesses and organisations across the region.
The expansion coincides with Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium (MHEC) appointing thebigword to deliver language services to help public service users with English as a second language better communicate with schools, hospitals, libraries and other public sector organisations.
Over 37% of Boston residents currently speak a language other than English at home..
MHEC commissions services for over 500 organisations in New England including Schools, Colleges, Universities, Municipalities and Health Care providers.
Headquartered in Leeds, thebigword already has a decade of experience supporting educational translation and interpretation services for over 1800 public schools across America and works with Worcester Public Schools in Massachusetts and several Boston-based multinational companies.
Diane McAveeney, executive vice president, Americas & Asia, said: “I am enthusiastic with the experienced team and office expansion. As a native of Boston, there is a growing need for language services throughout the Region particularly in education.
“We look forward to working with schools and universities as well as hospitals, municipalities and businesses to deliver quality translation and interpretation services that they require.”
Joshua Gould, CEO of thebigword Inc., added: “We are really excited to start the new year opening a Boston office and to be helping people across the city and Massachusetts communicate more easily.
“Working with MHEC and Worcester Public Schools has shown how strong we are in our educational translation and interpretation services platform – but more importantly what a huge difference it can make for a parent unsure what’s happening at school or a doctor who needs to explain treatment options to a patient.
“Our people are committed to making that difference every day and I know that the people of Boston will reap the rewards.”
