IconInc delivers 13-storey student tower in Liverpool
Work on a 13-storey student accommodation complex in Liverpool is now complete.
IconInc, part of property business Parklane Group, is the company behind The Ascent.
Located on Renshaw Street in the city centre, the building comprises 196 apartments across 83,315 sq ft.
The Ascent’s studio units are currently being reserved for the next academic term, with the first students due to move in on July 1.
In addition to the apartments, the development contains a communal ‘mega kitchen’, private dining room, cinema, study rooms, music area and a gym with a sauna and steam room.
Naveen Ahmed, managing director of the Parklane Group, said: “The Ascent is redefining student and post-graduate accommodation.
“Every studio is unique, self-contained and beautifully constructed for luxury student living, supplemented with ultra-modern facilities, inspired by top-rated hotels.”
Naveen added: “Our aim is to create a real community that students can move right into and feel at home. The building is equipped with an abundance of amenities to establish a safe, fun and community-centric atmosphere.”
Parklane Group acquired the site from property company Legacy Living in early 2016.
Architecture practice Fletcher Rae designed the scheme.
Andrew Rae, co-founder of Fletcher Rae, commented: “The cityscape, skyline, and heritage of the site’s location were large considerations in designing this new luxury student accommodation scheme.
“The building inherited a strong geometric form from The Watson and Lewis’s Buildings nearby, as well as other significant factors such as height, massing, and the overall pallet of materials. It’s important for new central builds, like this, to acknowledge the surrounding context and aesthetically adapt.”
Walker Sime, Coyle Kennedy, Charles Andrews Limited, Tolent Construction Ltd and Omega Fire Engineering were the contractors on the development.
