London FilmTech startup raises £2m to boost US expansion
We Got POP, the London-based FilmTech startup, has completed a fundraising round of £2m.
This latest raise was led by Octopus Ventures with participation from AllBright, Booking.com co-founder Andy Phillipps, and former KKR Partner Henrik Kraft.
We Got POP will use the fund to continue to develop its tech solutions and further expand across US geographical film and TV production markets.
The female-led business first launched an office in New York in July 2017, and the POP platform has already had trials on Showtime’s Billions, ABC’s Deception, CBS’ Bull and FX’s The Americans.
Kate McLaughlin, founder and CEO of We Got Pop, said: “We are delighted that we have the tremendous support of top tier fund Octopus Ventures and experience of angels like Andy Phillipps and Henrik Kraft, to back us as we add products to facilitate a wider community in the film industry and expand into the US.
“We’re working on some very exciting technology this year and can’t wait to bring it to market.”
Zoe Chambers, early stage investor at Octopus Ventures, commented: “Octopus Ventures is thrilled to support We Got POP, as they continue to revolutionise an industry that is aching for innovation.
“After cementing their position as a leader in applying technology to film and TV production workflows, this funding round will help their expansion plans and strengthen their pioneering approach to the FilmTech movement.”
In addition, POP has also announced the appointment of a new UK managing director, Chloe Chesterton.
Chloe has 20 years in the UK film industry as a leading assistant director on productions including Skyfall, Spectre, Star Wars Episode VII and most recently Mission: Impossible 6, Chloe has helped champion POP technology on some of the biggest movies in the world.
Chloe commented: “I’ve seen POP technology drive the industry forward in a hugely significant way in the past few years.
“To be involved at senior level in a company which I genuinely believe is leading the market with confidence into the digital future is a truly exciting prospect.”
