Newcastle's Dunlop Heywood surveyors help national company expand into Durham headquarters

North East chartered surveyors, Dunlop Heywood has assisted The British Sociological Association (BSA) expansion plans with the off-market purchase of Chancery Court in Belmont Business Park, Durham.

The BSA has reaffirmed its commitment to the North East with the six-figure purchase of the modern, detached, two storey building - around the corner from its previous rented base at Palatine House.

The new premises, totalling 8,000 sq ft, provides the society with nearly five times its current space, as well as a rental income from a section currently leased out to a tenant.

Dunlop Heywood’s Newcastle director, Andrew Chandler acted on behalf of The BSA and acquired the building, in addition to negotiating the surrender of their existing lease.

He said: “Chancery Court meets all the needs of the BSA and more, hopefully helping to secure its future and expand its UK-wide operation from this new base in Durham.

“It is a very versatile building for the staff to work within, with ample space to accommodate regular events which are a major part of their annual calendar.”

Chief executive of The BSA, Judith Mudd, agreed: ’We have spent a lot of time looking for a permanent home and are thrilled that Andrew was able to secure Chancery Court on our behalf.“

The BSA is the largest sociological network in the UK and its membership is open to anyone interested in the study of society from a sociological perspective.

It operates a network of over 40 study groups and several special interest groups.
