Six-figure investment for Chester-based SaaS marketing business

Software as a Service (SaaS) digital marketing company Out There has received an investment to fund its expansion.

The Chester-based company will use the six-figure boost to roll its offering out nationwide and take on new staff.

The investment came from Liverpool-based funding provider MSIF and Out There’s new chairman Andrew Windsor, who was formerly the main board director of online travel and leisure retailer lastminute.com.

Out There was founded in 2013. It is led by CEO David Palmer and client services director Karen Melvin.

The company’s offering connects consumers with local businesses by providing suggested places to eat, drink, visit or buy gifts. It also provides deals and promotions based on a user’s location.

David Palmer said: “We are delighted to have secured additional funding in order to enable us to expand Out There nationally.

“We believe that many small local businesses can benefit from our services enabling them to profitably boost their takings and for consumers it will give them access to a wide range of great offers, or hidden gems, all over the UK.”

MSIF investment director Simon Thelwall-Jones commented: “Out There is a great example of how MSIF can assist businesses at various stages in their evolution.

“Having leant money to Out There Today previously we saw the potential of the business and it was a natural step that once they required equity investment they came back to us for further support.”

He added: “I am delighted that we have been able to assist and Andrew Windsor will be a great addition to the senior management team given his previous experience at lastminute.com and prior to that as managing director of Thomas Cook Retail.”

Prior to the latest investment, MSIF provided loans to Out There in April 2016 and October last year.
