Lovell partners with Homes England on 200-home scheme in South Ribble

Housebuilder Lovell has struck an agreement with Homes England for the delivery of 200 new homes in South Ribble.

Lovell Partnerships will seek reserved matters planning permission for the £45m Altcar Lane scheme in Leyland this Autumn.

The 22-acre greenfield site was purchased from Homes England, formerly the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency.

Subject to planning, Lovell will build 140 homes for open market sale and 60 affordable homes through partner Together Housing Group.

Homes England’s head of accelerated delivery in the North West, Duncan Inglis, said: “We are really pleased to be working with Lovell, who have demonstrated a real commitment to delivering the quality and pace of development we are seeking for this prestigious site.

“We look forward to working with Lovell over the duration of this exciting joint venture initiative.”

The regional regeneration director for Lovell’s North West arm, Bruce Lister, commented: “South Ribble is one of the country’s most attractive development locations, and we are delighted to have been selected as Homes England’s development partner for the Altcar Lane project.

“Our proposal aims to create a strong identity that complements the local surroundings. The existing footpath with mature hedgerow and trees will be retained to create a green corridor running through the site, with houses carefully orientated to overlook this attractive new linear park.”

Altcar Lane is one of a number of national risk-sharing projects planned under the Government’s Accelerated Construction programme. The initiative is aiming to deliver new homes at a quicker rate via modern construction methods such as the use of a closed-panel, pre-insulated timber frame system and pre-formed floor and roof cassettes.

If approved, work on Altcar Lane will start at the beginning of 2019 with a development timeframe of 36 months.
