Employees to share their experiences one-to-one at people-focused drop-in careers’ event

Anyone seeking a fresh career challenge, as well as would-be trainees and apprentices, can get an insider’s view of what it’s like to work for one of North Wales’ most successful family businesses, at a special careers’ event.

Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK is holding the drop-in event at Ty Glyn, its Ruthin headquarters, between 4pm and 7pm on Monday 16 April.

Employees with many years’ experience from every department, together with trainees and apprentices, will be available to chat, informally and one-to-one, with anyone wanting to find out what it’s like working for the company.

Experienced people who are looking to revive their careers, as well as would-be trainee engineers and apprentices, will all be welcome.

Now one of the UK’s leading civil engineering contractors, Jones Bros currently has openings across many departments.

Delivery roles such as project civil engineer, site agent, project manager, foreman, and works managers, plus commercial and support roles including quantity surveying, finance, and health and safety, are available for the right applicants.

Apprenticeships, higher apprenticeships, undergraduate sponsorship, and graduate opportunities are also available. In addition, as well as permanent jobs, summer and industrial placements are on offer.

Jones Bros director Ruth James said: “We want to give visitors to our career night an opportunity to talk to a variety of staff already working and progressing with us at an informal event.

“At Jones Bros, we operate an open and transparent culture; our people are our greatest asset and we are committed to investing and rewarding their development.

“We want to give potential candidates a chance to hear what working with us is really like directly from our people.

“We are looking for candidates who enjoy working with other people in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Those who are able to use their initiative to apply their skills, experience, and qualifications to achieve solutions for our clients will thrive in our organisation.”

Started in the 1950s, Jones Bros is now being run by the second and third generations of the founding family.

It works on projects including the construction of waste management facilities, highways, flood and marine defence, and renewable energy projects around the UK.

In the North Wales region, some of its bigger contracts currently are to build infrastructure for the Brenig and Clocaenog Forest wind farms. It has also been appointed as lead contractor for the Caernarfon by-pass, although work cannot begin properly until the Welsh Government decides a construction start date.

In addition to informal chats with employees, there will be presentations about the company and career opportunities at 4.30pm and 6pm.
