KFC enhances tech behind food delivery with UK&I partnership
International fast food chain KFC has signed a partnership in the UK and Ireland with Flyt, a tech integration platform for the hospitality sector.
It is hoped the deal will help KFC improve the customer experience for those ordering through third-party delivery partners like Just Eat.
Orders will now be entered directly into a restaurant’s electronic point of sale (EPOS) and kitchen through the Flyt platform, which could help KFC more closely synchronise the arrival time of a rider with the food being ready to collect and deliver.
For customers, it could lead to shorter waiting times and fewer errors.
Brad Scheiner, KFC’s chief information officer for the UK and Ireland, said: “We are constantly in search of real innovation which allows us to increase efficiencies and further improve the service we provide to our customers.
“We chose Flyt as an integration partner for delivery to help us achieve exactly that. Now, orders placed through Just Eat will be processed through the Flyt platform, allowing seamless menu sync and order placement into our EPOS system and kitchen.”
He continued: “For our customers, they continue to place their orders through their preferred delivery provider, however, they will reap the benefits of improved accuracy and speed in the delivery experience.”
Speaking further, Mr Scheiner said: “We join the Flyt platform at a very exciting time for the business. Currently, we have over 900 restaurants in the UK and Ireland, and we plan to expand our delivery service over the coming year.”
Flyt CEO Tom Weaver said integration of the company’s platform was “a natural progression for KFC”, adding: “We are looking forward to pushing the boundaries together through digital innovation.”
