Pegasus Group shortlisted for prestigious design award

A leading planning and design consultancy has seen its work on a New Garden City in Wales recognised by being shortlisted for a prestigious national award. Pegasus Group, which has 11 offices nationwide, its founding office, is in the running for a major planning award for its Plasdŵr project, which is earmarked to provide 7,000 dwellings to the north west of Cardiff. The project is one of eight to be shortlisted for the Award for Design Excellence in the Planning Awards, run by Planning magazine in conjunction with PlanningResource and PlacemakingResource. The awards are held annually to recognise excellence in planning, regeneration, economic development, urban design, sustainable development and community development. The winners are due to be announced at a ceremony on June 6 at Savoy Place, in central London, which attracts more than 300 industry professionals. Pegasus Group created the high-quality Masterplan, Design Codes, Design Access Statement and First Phase RMA Layout whilst also providingurban design advice and landscape design to help create Plasdŵr. Ed Turner, Design Director who worked on the project says “Plasdŵr will be a world-class, sustainable community taking shape across 900 acres, and we are proud of the work we have done to help bring this amazing vision to reality. “Everyone likes to have their work recognised, but to be shortlisted for these national awards is especially satisfying. We are one of only three non-London projects shortlisted for Design Excellence.. “We have created a vision that takes its inspiration from the successful design elements of the Garden City movement, existing Cardiff districts and UK and European precedents.” Set within 900 acres, the land for Plasdŵr is entirely owned by the Plymouth Estate and will be developed over the next 15 to 20 years in a number of phases. It has been planned as a thriving community where people can learn, work and socialise. It will bring a mix of apartments, town houses and luxury family homes together with shops, offices, schools, health centres, leisure centres, pubs and restaurants. Plasdŵr’s master plan was approved in March 2017 with Redrow Homes starting work on Phase 1 last April. The first founding residents moved into their homes at Parc Plymouth at the end of last year.
