Record revenues for Warrington firm behind Jeremy Kyle Show DNA tests
Testing company AlphaBiolabs has achieved a record year with revenues up 16%.
The Warrington-based firm, which carries out the DNA tests for ITV’s The Jeremy Kyle Show, pulled in sales of £4.2m in the 12 months to March 31.
AlphaBiolabs said the growth was driven by an increased demand for its workplace drug and alcohol testing services.
The year also saw AlphaBiolabs expand with a Dublin office and introduce its SCRAM Continuous Alcohol Monitoring system, which tests for alcohol in perspiration every 30 minutes using an ankle bracelet.
SCRAM was launched as an additional way for local authorities, courts and child protection agencies to obtain information.
AlphaBiolabs, founded in 2004, employs 45 staff and a network of sample collectors around the country. Its testing services are offered from nine walk-in centres, with clients including individuals, businesses, solicitors, social services, universities and the media.
David Thomas, AlphaBiolabs’ founder and managing director, said: “We are delighted to achieve our highest-ever annual sales.
“We are really seeing the benefits of our investment in workplace testing, SCRAM CAM and other areas of the business.”
He added: “This gives us great confidence for the future and we are aiming to double in size over the next three years, by further expanding our range of services in the UK and overseas, and by developing our network of sample collectors and walk-in centres.”
