US supplement firm announces £3m investment for Trafford Park operation
US-headquartered supplements manufacturer Nutraceutical has announced a seven-figure investment in its Greater Manchester-based Solaray business.
The company has ploughed £2m into Solaray, operated from a facility at Trafford Park, to revitalise the vitamin brand in the UK.
Nutraceutical is also earmarking a further £1m to expand its North West arm over the next two years.
The cash will facilitate job creation, marketing and product development.
Alongside the new £2m investment, the company appointed Dr Nicholas Kelly as its director of UK operations.
Dr Kelly has been based in Barbados since 1989, during which time he launched and expanded a vitamins distribution business and opened 25 retail stores on nine Caribbean islands.
He said of his new role: “While Solaray is a mainstay of the British vitamin sector, in recent years, activity has been minimal.
“My job now is to breathe new life into this iconic brand and remind retailers and consumers why our vitamins are the number one choice in the USA.”
He continued: “It’s a really exciting time to be driving the Solaray brand forward, with innovative approaches to the way the brand looks, sounds and feels all imminent. I’m sure that with a newly invigorated strategy, Solaray will once again be in the hands of the many, not the few.”
Speaking further, Dr Kelly said the company’s expansion plans include the launch of 100 new products in the UK this year and widespread price reductions.
