County Durham academy creates 25 new apprenticeships with Learning Curve Group

Learning Curve Group has embarked on a significant recruitment drive as part of the launch of its new ‘Purple People Academy’.

Building on its existing training and development programmes for its workforce of more than 300, the County Durham-based education and training provider has launched the new academy to help develop focused career paths for its staff.

Open to those looking to progress on to an apprenticeship, including current Year 11 GCSE students who leave school in the summer, the training programmes begin in September 2018.

The apprenticeships in Customer Service, Graphic Design, IT, Data Analysis and Business Administration will support a number of the company’s growing teams.

Brenda McLeish, chief executive of Learning Curve Group, said: “The Purple People Academy is definitely an example of Learning Curve Group practicing what it preaches.

“It is always a thrill to create new employment opportunities, particularly with apprenticeships, which can create long-term partnerships between employees and the business.

“The experience they gain by being part of a company culture while they are training towards important qualifications helps develop career paths that can place them at the heart of the future of the business and is central to the continuing succession planning of our workforce.”

Currently based at its current headquarters in Bishop Auckland, the departments will transfer to Learning Curve Group’s new offices, which are currently under construction at DurhamGate, Spennymoor.

Currently, Learning Curve Group has 21 apprentices at various stages of training and these young people will also be supported by the academy to broaden their skills development.

The academy will also provide upskilling and personal development opportunities for existing members of staff and uses a training model that has been successfully applied by Learning Curve Group for a number of employers across the UK.

Learning Curve Group offers a wide range of accredited courses for employers looking to increase the skills of their employees, often through dedicated websites accessible from any location.

It has also become a source of support and information for businesses accessing the Apprenticeship Levy.
