Girls Out Loud’s charity ball returns for second year running

The Shining Stars ball will raise money to empower the region’s teenage girls

£Girls Out Loud will host its second annual Shining Stars Ball on Friday 21st September at The Hilton Hotel in Manchester. The inaugural event in 2017 raised over £20,000 for girls across the North West.

Money raised from the black-tie fundraiser will help to support Girls Out Loud’s mentoring programme, which has already helped over hundreds of girls across the region since 2010. The Big Sister programme pairs girls in year 8 with successful female role models who meet with them once a month to boost their confidence, raise their aspirations and encourage them to believe in themselves.

The social enterprise is proud to announce Co-op as the headline sponsor of the Shining Stars Ball 2018, alongside individual award sponsors so far: Alder Training, Pladis Global, Stanmore Insurance, NBrown Group PLC and Enterprise-Rent-A-Car.

With a number of companies across the North West donating prizes, hosting tables and supporting the event it is set to be a spectacular occasion for all.

The evening will not only raise financial funds for the social enterprise but will be a chance to highlight some of the stand-out successes and inspirational journeys of people involved in their work, including female mentors, companies, schools and the girls themselves. It is an emotional affair highlighting what is possible when we invest.

Jane Kenyon, founder of Girls Out Loud, says: “Last year, we saw our first Shining Stars ball take place, and what a night it was. The room was buzzing and the feedback was so powerful we simply had to do it all again! This year, we want to make it even bigger and better. I’m looking forward to welcoming businesses and some of the North West’s most prolific brands to the ball to share a night of potential, possibility and passion.

“Not only will the night be full of fun and joy, it will also help change lives for the better. We’ve made it our mission to uplift and empower the next generation of women, but we need the support of our local community to make this happen.

“The teenage girls of today are the female talent pipeline of tomorrow. We all need to invest in their development to effect positive change in the gender arena and never has there been a more important time to do this.”

Penni Pennington, co-owner and director of £Connect In Events, the volunteer organiser of the Shining Stars Ball, said: “The best way to secure your place at the event is by visiting Girls Out Loud’s website. There are still sponsorship opportunities available, which is a great way for businesses to get involved with something life-changing and truly give back to the region’s next generation. If you think that your business would be able to donate a prize for one of our many fantastic raffles or auctions or if you would like to book a table, please do get in touch.”

About Girls Out Loud

£Girls Out Loud is a social enterprise which empowers teenage girls to believe in themselves. With a variety of early intervention programmes ranging in length from a few hours to a year, they believe that introducing girls to female role models from their local area helps give them the confidence they need to succeed.

The emphasis of all Girls Out Loud’s activity is to embed a more empowering mindset in girls, which in turn reconnects them to education, helps them achieve exam success, broadens their aspirations and encourages them to find their individual voice, take risks, make better life decisions, improve their self-image to become role models for future generations.
