Consultants chosen for proposed £30m Snow Centre in Middlesbrough
Plans to build a state-of-the-art snow centre in Middlesbrough have taken a step forward with the appointment of a lead consultant on the scheme.
Teesside-based property consultancy Dodds Brown will lead the team drawing up designs and costings for the £30m Snow Centre, which could create up to 350 jobs.
Dodds Brown will also seek occupiers for leisure and retail units planned as part of the development.
The Snow Centre will house two ski slopes, an ice wall, ice bar, trampoline park, climbing walls, children’s play area, bowling alley and an indoor skydiving facility.
It is estimated that the complex will attract up to 2.25 million visitors annually.
Stephen Brown, senior partner at the firm, said: “We have been working with site owners Cool Runnings (NE) and Middlesbrough Council on this development since the start of 2017, so we are delighted to be formally appointed.
“The Snow Centre will be a massive visitor boost for the town.”
Cool Runnings director Rachael Howson commented: “Dodds Brown are the premier commercial property consultancy in Teesside.
“Their knowledge of the local lettings market and understanding of the wider national property market will be invaluable in getting the mix of commercial units right and letting them successfully.”
Dodds Brown will submit a detailed planning application this September.
Subject to approval, construction work will start in 2019.
