JTEKT Corporation chooses Assystem Technologies to create a new research and development centre

Automotive components manufacturer JTEKT Europe and Assystem Technologies, a world-class partner in engineering, quality and digital solutions, have decided to enhance their strategic partnership by creating an R&D services center in France, near Lyon. Their work will notably focus on innovations related to developing autonomous vehicles.

The two companies have signed a multi-year agreement outlining the collaboration between their R&D teams at a shared services center, where operations began in the first quarter of 2018. Specialists from JTEKT Europe and Assystem Technologies are working on product innovation as well as serial life management projects including mechanical design, software engineering and electronics; as well as project management. They are also working on developing on-board systems and all validation stages for the various products manufactured by JTEKT Corporation.

Rémi Festaz, Vice-president France - Regions at Assystem Technologies, explained, “the creation of this shared R&D services center is the fruit of 15 years of trusted collaboration. Our level of commitment and the heightened responsibilities we are given allows us to better meet the challenges facing JTEKT in integrating state-of-the-art technology to develop increasingly autonomous vehicles, for example.”

Richard Chauvel-Sanz, Technical Center Director for JTEKT Europe, added, “the services center established with our long-term partner Assystem Technologies is a genuine extension of our R&D process. This integrated model has redefined our ways of working and helps us to improve our responsiveness and performance, which leads to enhanced value creation.”
