Aerospares 2000: The Sky is (Not) the Limit
With companies pushing the envelope of what’s possible in the future of travel technology, the UK aerospace industry is a powerhouse to reckon with. Not only is it the world’s second largest industry, but it is also predicted to continue to grow.
One company benefitting from this rapid growth is Aerospares 2000, one of the UK’s leading stockists and supplier of civil aircraft spare parts for the latest generation of aircraft. Based in Watford, Hertfordshire, it supplies some of the world’s leading airlines.
Between 2014 and 2017, sales more than doubled from £11.5 to over £26m and, also in 2017, Aerospares 2000 won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the UK’s highest accolade for business success, for its outstanding growth in overseas sales.
Keep calm and go global With over 400 active customers in 68 different countries around the world from Fiji to Finland, overseas sales currently account for over 82% of the company’s annual revenue.
Looking ahead, the company is launching a new facility later this year, which will be seven times the size of its current premises, and provide the infrastructure for continued growth. It is also looking to expand into developing countries such as Vietnam and Colombia.
Entrepreneur Adam Nemenyi had his big break just nine months after starting the business in 2000 when he acquired the spare-parts of a bankrupt airline at an auction in France. Within six months, the business had more than quadrupled what he paid for the initial package.
While the company initially solely focused on the Franco-Italian manufactured ATR regional aircraft, it has diversified over the years and now supports most other aircraft types.
Speed is of the essence In order to provide a premium delivery service, speed is of the essence. Commenting on the main challenge in meeting customers’ expectations, Adam Nemenyi, Founder, said: “We specialise in stocking the critical no-go spare parts which prevent an aircraft from flying until they are replaced, so over 90% of our orders require express delivery.”
“The FedEx International Priority service gives us next day delivery to most places in Europe and 48 hours to or from mainland USA. Given the urgency of most our customer requirements, we entrust FedEx to support us on these time-critical shipments and it has firmly established itself as a valuable extension of our company”, says Adam.
Other challenges businesses face when shipping goods are regulatory and choosing to use the FedEx International Priority service not only guarantees a time-definite, customs-cleared, door-to-door express service, but will also give your business a competitive edge.
Looking to grow its volume of shipments, the future is bright for Aerospares 2000. However, it is not all work and no play. “Walking around our facility, you can see our passion for aviation. My desk, for example, used to be part of a leading edge wing of an Airbus A300, our coffee tables are ex Boeing 767 main wheels which have been repainted… “, says Adam. “I guess deep down many of us at Aerospares 2000 are av-geeks at heart!”
