Crownpeak boosts industry GDPR compliance with native integration of IAB Transparency and Consent Framework
Evidon from Crownpeak, a global leader in privacy management and digital governance management, announced today it will increase transparency in the advertising industry by integrating the IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework with its Universal Consent Platform.
The Universal Consent Platform is the first-to-market unified solution to help organizations achieve compliance with global privacy laws, including the GDPR. It will now offer publishers and brands the option to manage and pass consent to third party vendors, as per the IAB’s framework. By using this integrated method, it will bolster the industry’s ability to comply with requirements put forth by the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Since its enforcement on May 25th, 2018, GDPR requires that organizations which collect, process and use personal data of individuals located within the EU disclose the purpose of such processing, and in many cases, gain consent from the user.
Adrian Newby, Chief Technology Officer at Crownpeak says: “While this legislation is an important step in furthering protection of users’ personal data, it is also important for publishers, advertisers and vendors to promote transparency across the digital advertising supply chain. The IAB EU Transparency and Consent Framework gives all parties a communal language to work together to deliver potent and pertinent digital advertising to consumers via trusted Consent Management Providers (CMP).”
The native support provided by Crownpeak’s Universal Consent Solution will offer the same functionality, APIs, and status, as the open-source framework. By allowing consent to be transferred to partners within the ecosystem, the provenance of data and advertising quality will be prioritized.
As an IAB-listed Content Management Platform, Crownpeak’s customers will have access to all necessary information about each vendor prior to any data collection. Sites can capture consent from their users before any personal data is collected and seamlessly share that approved consent with their partners and technology vendors.
For nearly 10 years, Evidon, which is part of Crownpeak, has built consent management tools for publishers to comply with existing privacy legislation such as PIPEDA and the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) along with provided data governance management tools that provide insight into the technology vendor ecosystem utilizing their industry-best Regex Database. Evidon is also a preferred provider of the AdChoices program, working closely with advertisers, agencies and technology vendors in the digital advertising chain to achieve compliance with the Digital Advertising Alliance’s self-regulatory program.
