Nottingham charities encouraged to apply for slice of funding
A leading UK housebuilder is encouraging charities and community groups in Nottingham to apply for a slice of funding.
Persimmon Homes Nottingham has already given away more than £14,000 to good causes this year, with a £2,000 pot made available each month.
The Community Champions initiative began in 2015, allowing charities and groups to apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves. Nationally Persimmon Homes has donated more than £1.5million in total across the UK.
Some of the causes to benefit so far include Maggie’s Nottingham, whose donation went towards its support and services for people with cancer and their families, while Elite Fighting Academy in Boughton were gifted £1,000 for new boxing equipment for its young members.
Tom Baskett, head of sales at Persimmon Homes Nottingham, said: “We have donated thousands of pounds to worthy causes in our area and we want to see more groups from the city coming forward with their applications.
“Two Community Champions are selected each month and we are donating up to £1,000 to each. With the success of our Sandfield Walk development in Lenton, we’re looking for charities from the local area to benefit from the generous donation.
“Sandfield Walk’s central location is not only appealing to commuters but is ideally placed for Nottingham University Hospital as well as the University of Nottingham. Our carefully designed homes provide a unique facades and elevations and the extensive choice of interior layouts will help meet all lifestyles.
“I’d encourage charities, community groups and organisations to apply and hopefully they will be the next Persimmon Homes Community Champion.”
