Huddersfield manufacturer Andel grows offering with £1.2m R&D investment
Leak detection system manufacturer Andel is expanding its product range thanks to a seven-figure investment in research and development.
The Huddersfield-based firm will launch a fifth iteration of BundGuard, its oil and water alarm-pump technology, as well as a new multi-gas leak detection system after investing £1.2m in R&D over the last three years.
Mark Harris, commercial director at Andel, said: “Andel was founded 26 years ago as an electronic R&D company and we’ve always recognised the need to keep investing for the future growth of the business.
“Following the death of our founder Ian Pogson in 2014, we took the strategic decision to triple our R&D spend and effectively reinvest 8% of turnover per year until 2021 as part of an eight-year plan to drive turnover from £2.2m in 2014 to £12m by 2022.”
He added: “Following the first three years of this level of investment in R&D we are on course to reach our target.”
Andel’s customer base includes a number of national and international names in the public and private sectors, including The Houses of Parliament, The Pentagon, Hong Kong International Airport and Barclays.
The firm employs 70 people, including a dedicated four-strong R&D team.
