Shelley Sandzer secures first European site for Taiwanese restaurant

Leisure property agency, Shelley Sandzer, has secured the European debut site for authentic Taiwanese restaurant chain, Din Tai Fung at 5-6 Henrietta Street in Covent Garden.

The 9,000 sq ft unit has space for approximately 250 covers across ground floor and basement level.

Originally founded in 1958 as a cooking-oil retail business, Din Tai Fung was reborn as a steamed dumpling restaurant in 1972 and now has more than 154 locations across the world in Asia, Australia and the United States.

Nick Weir, managing partner at Shelley Sandzer, said: “We are proud to have secured the UK debut location for Din Tai Fung, one of the most exciting and sought-after new entrants to London this year.

“We have worked very closely with the brand, visiting their high-quality operation in Singapore to experience it first-hand. This was key to us finding the perfect location for this renowned world-class operator.”

The debut location at 5-6 Henrietta Street in Covent Garden will be followed by a second site at the Centre Point redevelopment on Tottenham Court Road, due to open in 2019.
