London’s ICHIBUNS creates ‘experience like no other’ with QR code buns and new app
Japanese eatery ICHIBUNS has announced the launch of London’s first burger bun-branded QR code and plans for a new app.
The 130-cover restaurant, located in the heart of the capital’s Chinatown, partnered with mobile-payment service Zapper to give customers an easier way to make fast, secure payments.
ICHIBUNS’ signature burgers will now feature a QR code branded onto the top of the bun. Diners can scan the QR code to download the Zapper app and use it to pay their bills or leave tips.
In a further boost to its digital footprint, ICHIBUNS is also preparing to launch an app of its own, ICHIPACHINKO, which will take inspiration from the pinball-esque ‘Pachinko’ machines on the venue’s lower level.
Points earned on the ICHIPACHINKO app can be exchanged for Zapper vouchers to use on a number of items on the menu.
ICHIBUNS chief exec Benjamin Goldkorn said: “Our goal with ICHIBUNS was to be a restaurant experience like no other, and our partnership with Zapper is a great way to achieve this, allowing us to be at the forefront of hospitality innovation by offering much more than just a payment service.
“Combining it with our own app also allows us to give something back to our amazing, loyal customers, with discounts and prizes available to win.”
