LOCAL BUSINESS SHORTLISTED FOR TWO PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS

Sally’s Cottages, an independent, family-run holiday cottage agency in Keswick, has been nominated for two high-profile awards.

Sally Fielding, owner of the company, is a regional finalist in the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award category of the Natwest Great British Entrepreneur Awards. Sally, who set up the company 15 years ago with just one property and £1,000 in the bank, beat off some tough competition - and a record number of applicants - in order to make the shortlist. Past winners include David Buttress of Just Eat, Julie Deane OBE of The Cambridge Satchel Company, and James Watt of BrewDog.

The second nomination comes from the highly-acclaimed British Travel Awards (BTAs), the UK’s biggest holiday industry awards ceremony. The winners are determined by the public, who have until 30 September to cast their vote, with the successful companies announced at the BTA Gala Awards Dinner, held in London on 28 November 2018.

This is the fourth time that the company has been shortlisted, and they have won silver in the previous three years. “We’re always thrilled to win at the BTAs,” comments Sally, “as it shows that we continue to provide our customers with the excellent service they have come to expect. It has been fabulous to be awarded silver at the last few awards, but winning gold this year would be simply incredible and proof that local, independent businesses can hold their own against bigger companies with large financial backing.”

Sally’s Cottages now has over 480 self-catering holiday cottages across the Lake District and Cumbria and is one of only a small handful of independent and truly local agencies across the region.

Voting for the BTAs is open until 30 September and you can vote for Sally’s Cottages via their website.
