Stack-Cup announces double appointment with new chairman and MD
Eco company Stack-Cup has appointed Ed Downey as its new chairman and James Roles as its new managing director. Both will work closely with Stack-Cup’s board - Neal Edsall, CEO; Matthew Cove, COO; and Zoe Telfer, client services director. Their focus will be driving the firm’s strategic direction and increasing sales in Asia, Europe and the US.
Ed is an experienced marketer who established Steam – the award winning marketing agency - in 2000. He has also worked in several high profile global agency networks including Ominicom and WPP. He has extensive experience in the brewing, winemaking, government and construction sectors.
Most recently, James was sales and marketing director at launch marketing agency Five by Five Global. In the three years he spent in the business, James led the agency’s rebrand and oversaw significant client growth. The firm featured in The Sunday Times Top 100 SME Exporters in the UK in 2017.
James has also held senior business development and marketing positions at JCDecaux and News UK. As head of brand marketing at The Times, he was a part of the team responsible for the paper’s successful digital transformation. James is also a brand ambassador for E2Exchange, is on the Fundraising Committee (UK Delegation) for The Invictus Games Sydney 2018 and is co-founder of The Launch Marketing Council.
Stack-Cup is a 100% recyclable and reusable cup that reduces spills and waste thanks to its patented handle design that allows the cups to stack on top of each other. Stack-Cup is used at stadiums, festivals, arenas and events around the world. Five million cups have been manufactured so far in 2018 and that number is set to grow to 12 million in 2019.
Ed commented: “There is a growing awareness of the plight of the planet and the role plastic waste plays, which means Stack-Cup has begun to be noticed and the business is growing. The idea that you can help reduce plastic use and service the planet is a compelling prospect.
Ed added: Switching to Stack-Cup from single use plastic cups is in tune with the zeitgeist and we are seeing forward looking brands and eco conscious organisations changing to our 100% recycled product on a daily basis. In addition to Stack-Cups eco credentials, it has a compelling commercial model that generates increased revenue for sports stadiums, festivals and arenas. All these factors are what drew me to the role.“
James commented: “I am delighted to be joining Stack-Cup at a time when there is strong demand for innovative plastic solutions that replace single-use products.”
Neal Edsall said: “Both Ed and James are hugely talented businessmen and marketers so we are delighted that they are now part of Stack-Cup’s future.”
