Hull building supplies firm expands growth with new branch openings
Hull-based MKM Building Supplies has continued its national expansion with the help of Peter Hindle MBE, chairman of the Builders’ Merchants Federation (BMF).
The company has opened its 54th and 55th branches, bringing a total of 32 jobs to the towns of Louth and Blackpool, with 16 in each new branch.
Louth is MKM’s third location in Lincolnshire; coming hot on its heels is Blackpool, MKM’s fourth in Lancashire. Hindle, BMF’s chairman since 2014, attended a VIP event to celebrate the launch of the Blackpool branch.
Last year, MKM celebrated the opening of its landmark 50th branch. Hull-headquartered MKM has grown since it was founded in 1995 by executive chairman, David Kilburn. With the help of a growth plan, MKM aims to reach a target of 100 branches by 2022.
David Kilburn said: “Last year we celebrated the launch of our milestone 50th branch in Royal Leamington Spa; as a Hull-founded company, we’re delighted and proud to have the opportunity to establish ourselves in Louth and Blackpool.
“MKM puts the customer at the heart of everything it does - we hope the MKM formula proves popular as popular in Louth and Blackpool as it has elsewhere.”
MKM Louth and MKM Blackpool both aim to be a one-stop building supplies shop, with product portfolios spanning the likes of supplies, heating, landscaping and timber.
