Record £1m month of sales for regional timber specialist

NYTimber is set to achieve a ‘record-breaking’ year after its Engineered Wood Products (EWP) division achieved £1m worth of sales in one month.

Eight years after producing its first product, the company’s manufacturing arm, which complements its branch network, broke through the £1m barrier for the first time in July.

Despite a challenging first quarter - said to be slightly caused by the ‘Beast from the East’ - sales of its roof trusses, engineered joists, and panelised roof systems are up 30 per cent on the previous year.

Nick Kershaw, managing director at NYTimber, said: “We’re all very proud of the progress we’ve made in such a relatively short period of time. A lot of hard work and innovation has gone into getting the department up off the ground to where it is now.

“Housebuilders, developers, and construction companies utilising our off-site manufactured products are saving themselves a huge amount of time and money.

“They dramatically increase build speed, enable a just-in-time system to be used, which eliminates the need for lengthy storage on site, and reduces the need to rely on multiple trades.

“It also improves on-site health and safety for workers, who now spend much less time at a height.”

The company’s design, engineering, manufacturing, and delivery service is now supplying off-site products to some of the UK’s largest housebuilders, including Persimmon, Taylor Wimpey, Bellway, Keepmoat, and Miller Homes.

It also supplies trusses and engineered joists through its branch network to developers, self-builders and members of the public building extensions and garages.

Established in 1979, NYTimber is now one of the largest regional timber merchants in the region, with seven branches located throughout the North East and Yorkshire.
