Tyne Bank Brewery goes global with new cruise ship contract

Since 2011 when it first opened, Tyne Bank Brewery has been a popular destination.

Now, the brewery - led by local, Julia Austin - has extended its market with a new contract to supply its beer to international cruise ships.

The partnership with P&O Cruises began in 2016, when Silver Dollar was contracted to be stocked on the cruise operator’s Britannia ship. The brewery’s flagship pale ale was well received by holidaymakers, and the contract was renewed for 2017.

In a further strengthening of the two brands’ relationship, the contract for Silver Dollar has been extended to include all seven of P&O Cruises’ fleet, which travel some 100,000 miles around the world every year.

Julia Austin, owner of Tyne Bank Brewery, said: “We’re very excited at the prospect of Silver Dollar being available worldwide.

“Our relationship with P&O Cruises began in 2016… To think our contract has now been extended worldwide is testament to the quality not only of Silver Dollar, but of the brewery and the brand!”

P&O Cruises cover destinations from as far as Australia, Hawaii, and the USA, where Austin’s inspiration for the brewery was born around a decade ago.

Julia added: “My idea to open a brewery began many years ago, when I experienced the magic of the craft beer scene on the West Coast of America.

“It’s wonderful to think that Tyne Bank Brewery has come full-circle and is now available to try in the same corner of the world that the business idea began to brew.”

Tyne Bank Brewery is located on Walker Road, in Ouseburn; throughout autumn and winter the Tap Room will host events including Christmas markets and parties.
