ASSYSTEM SIGNS A CONTRACT WITH ROSATOM TO HELP DEVELOP A NUCLEAR POWER PLANT IN EGYPT

Rosatom has awarded Assystem a first contract to support the development of a Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Egypt, in El Dabaa.

Assystem will assist the contractor of the project, AtomStroyExport, a key engineering company of the Rosatom Group, to obtain the necessary licenses and permits in order to build the NPP.

The project complements Assystem’s business strategy, further demonstrates its ability to broaden its international reach, and its nuclear engineering expertise. Assystem is committed to help newcomer countries to develop nuclear energy and partner major nuclear players in exporting their expertise beyond their own borders.

Assystem won this contract thanks to its long-standing international reach and expertise in the nuclear sector.

The energy produced from the project will support in meeting Egypt’s energy demand, which has been growing at a rate of more than 10% a year since 2010[1]. In addition, the project will have a significant impact on reducing environmental pollution from fossil fuels. Beyond this, it will help structure Egypt’s economy and energy industry for years to come and will make Egypt an exporter country of electricity, providing a substantial source of income and thousands of jobs.
