Crowdfunding begins for new Medic Footprints platform promoting careers for doctors
Medic Footprints is an independent social impact business leveraging the talent of doctors through connections with diverse career opportunities and wellbeing support.
Today (October 12), the company is to embark on a crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter to build the world’s first platform focusing on individual wellbeing as a core part of the career and recruitment journey, driven by machine learning and AI.
The organisation - which currently has over 11,000 subscribers - aims to raise a minimum of £40k in a bid to build the first iteration of the platform that will help medical professionals make career transitions.
Medic Footprints was founded by school friends Sara Sabin and London-based Doctor Abeyna Jones in 2014. The organisation has grown to work with a diverse range of clients from startups to international corporates such as Virgin Limited Edition, Deloitte, Imperial Health College Partners, Roche, Doctify and Babylon Health.
Dr. Abeyna Jones, co-founder and medical director of Medic Footprints, said: “We have already developed a robust business model and now, with crowdfunding support, our plans are to grow the business with more subscribers, more wellbeing services for doctors, and of course new and innovative products.
“We aim to help doctors transform their own lives and realise there are opportunities for them if they no longer want to work full time in conventional medicine. If they’re unhappy, they could suffer from stress and then they’re more likely to make mistakes, which impacts on patient care.
“I know people who have left medicine, developed new skills and later returned. They have successfully been able to bring skills they’ve learned in other sectors to for the benefit of healthcare.
“Many are also excelling with developing their own health tech startups which are focused on improving the patient experience. Most importantly they are healthier and happier doing it.”
Medic Footprints is a well-known brand amongst the medical profession in the UK, with a subscriber base extending globally to other countries such as US, Australia, South Africa, Malaysia and India.
For everyone who contributes £10 or more, there will be rewards for medics, non-medics and businesses including a discounted subscription to the new platform, sponsorship of wellbeing material and access to health and wellbeing business advisory.
Crowdfunding starts tonight at 6.30pm via Kickstarter and closes on November 12, 2018.
