The Vaulkhard Group obtains license for two regional properties in same day
North East leisure operator, The Vaulkhard Group was granted a license to open one of its Barluga branded venues in Gosforth.
This was on the same day the company took over the management of the successful Diamond pub in Ponteland.
The Vaulkhard Group has business interests in restaurants, bars, coffee shops and nightclubs in the region.
After nine months of negotiations, the Vaulkhard Group was granted a license to take over the former Loch Fyne restaurant on Gosforth High Street on Tuesday October 9.
Newcastle City Council’s licensing sub committee voted unanimously in favour of granting a license for the Group to convert the premises into one of its Barluga restaurant bars.
This will be the third Barluga operated by the Group, the others are on Grey Street, Newcastle and in Sanderson Arcade, Morpeth.
The Newcastle-headquartered group has operated in the city for more than 25 years, with family business interests dating back over 40 years.
Brothers Ollie and Harry followed their late father Nigel Vaulkhard into the leisure industry and have built a successful track record in managing venues across the city.
The group is now looking to expand its business operations and invest across the region with the Gosforth and Ponteland developments forming the next step in these plans.
On the same day the license for Gosforth was granted, the Vaulkhard Group also agreed a deal to take over the management of the Diamond Pub in Ponteland after being approached by the owners, Heineken brewery.
The Diamond is a well-known pub on Main Street in Ponteland, which The Vaulkhard Group intend to run with no immediate changes but with investment plans in the pipeline.
Ollie Vaulkhard, joint owner and director of the Vaulkhard Group, said: “Tuesday was a good day for us and we’re proud of our achievements. As an independent, local business we’re committed to the city and continuing to invest in the region.
“We are delighted that our reputation and track record helped secure the license for Barluga in Gosforth and the Diamond in Ponteland and we’re excited about welcoming customers into these venues.
“We are also looking forward to offering a new dining experience on Gosforth High Street and breathing new life into a beautiful building that needs a commercially successful business to occupy it.
“In keeping with the Barluga brand, Barluga Gosforth will be a great venue with outstanding food and an atmosphere and environment built for socialising.”
