This week's Yorkshire appointments
The Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA) and Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) have strengthened their teams with a business development officer and analyst.
Ben Martyn joins the health partnerships in a joint role which will see him work across both the NHSA and the AHSN.
Based in Sheffield, a core focus of Ben’s role will be supporting the organisations’ development of commercial engagement with the NHS and clinical research environment across the Northern Powerhouse.
Speaking of his appointment, Ben said: “Collaboration between business, healthcare and academia is at the heart of what the NHSA and Yorkshire & Humber AHSN do, and that was one of the main things that attracted me to this role.
“The work that I will deliver for both organisations will contribute to outcomes that have a very definite real-world impact, both on the patient side and also in terms of industrial growth.
“I get to talk to lots of different people, find out about the work they’re doing and then help them move that forward, which is really rewarding.”
Lauren O’Toole, Glentrool Estates Group Ltd
Property development and investment company, Glentrool Estates Group Ltd has strengthened its property team with the appointment of Lauren O’Toole.
Lauren has joined Glentrool from the Leeds office of property consultancy JLL, where she specialised in industrial property.
Educated at Woodhouse Grove School, Giggleswick School and the University of Northumbria, Lauren previously worked at Adair Paxton and Carter Towler in Leeds.
She commented: “The opportunity to work for Glentrool and see things from the client side of the table was hugely interesting and a completely new challenge for me.
“Glentrool have a 20-year track record, a strong reputation within the market and own such a varied portfolio I knew it would be an interesting and exciting prospect.”
Spencer Williams, Fox Agency
B2B marketing specialist, Fox Agency has appointed Spencer Williams as its group account director.
Spencer brings over 20 years of experience in both agency and in-house roles; including holding the position of head of global brand marketing at JCB and working with clients including Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction and Vauxhall.
Spencer will oversee key accounts across global automotive and industrial markets, providing strategic direction across digital and traditional channels.
Ben Fox, Fox Agency’s director, said: “Spencer is a natural fit for us due to his extensive strategic marketing experience in B2B, working with some major global brands in our core markets.
“With his in-depth knowledge of the automotive, engineering and manufacturing sectors, he will hit the ground running with some of the agency’s key clients and help to strengthen these relationships even further.”
Peter Scholes, Fleurets
Leisure property specialist, Fleurets has appointed Peter Scholes to operarte from the company’s Manchester and Leeds offices.
Peter will be working with director David Sutcliffe, director of valuation, who commented: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Peter to the Fleurets team.
“He will be supporting myself, as well as the wider professional services team, predominantly providing valuation and lease consultancy services across our North and North West regions.”
Having qualified as a chartered surveyor in 2016, Peter has joined Fleurets from Savills, where he also worked within the licensed and leisure property sector.
Caroline Berry, Flaunt Digital
Caroline Berry has joined Leeds-based digital marketing agency Flaunt Digital as PPC manager.
Coming from a strong paid media background, Caroline’s new role will encompass all aspects of paid media including search, display and social advertising.
Ahead of her move to Flaunt Digital, Caroline worked in a digital marketing executive role for a York-based marketing agency before joining one of Yorkshire’s top digital agencies for a more specialised role in paid media.
Lee Fuller, CEO at Flaunt Digital, said: “Caroline hasn’t been here long but she already feels like an important part of the team.
“We’re eager to see how a new perspective will shape our internal processes and we hope that her expertise will help us secure a wider variety of high-tier clients. It’s an interesting time for Flaunt!”
Christina Edwards, Onstate
A Leeds-based ecommerce agency has appointed an experienced digital project manager.
The appointment of Christina Edwards at Onstate follows four new appointments made during the summer, after a series of new project wins from new and existing clients.
Christina’s appointment takes the team to 21 full-time employees all based at Graingers Way in Leeds.
Onstate launched in 2010 with a team of two staff and just a handful of small clients. The business now has a client base including international consumer and leading high street brands.
In her new role at Onstate, Christina will work with the agency’s account teams on project delivery for all clients. Responsibilities will include client liaison, overseeing project briefs, timings and deadlines, managing and delivering internal processes.
Christina commented: “Onstate is a great forward thinking agency with a very exciting client list and a first-rate approach to building and maintaining client relationships.
“The approach is much more collaborative than anything I experienced during my time in London and this excites me greatly.
“The Onstate team is very talented and it’s easy to see why clients are so invested. Positive working relationships are essential in the digital sector and this was a big factor in luring me back to Leeds.”
Chris Ibbetson, Reward Finance
Banker, Chris Ibbetson has joined Reward Finance as a portfolio manager to handle the growing number of deals being generated by the SME funder.
Chris has joined from Yorkshire Bank where he spent seven and a half years working within corporate and private banking.
Initially, he was handling corporate transactions including MBO/MBIs, leverages and PE deals before spending three years as a relationship manager for high net worth individuals.
Speaking about his reasons for joining the company, Chris said: “I have known the directors at Reward Finance for many years and have always admired the way the company conducts business.
“I am joining a fantastic team and looking forward to getting started and helping customers with their funding needs.
