Popular York offices to receive major overhaul with Palace Capital plc
The owner of a city centre development in York has announced plans to fully refurbish 5,500 sq ft of offices to provide ‘high quality’ business space.
Palace Capital plc bought the building on Museum Street, which includes the Costa coffee shop, offices, and seven other commercial units. It is part of a £53.3m acquisition of the RT Warren portfolio in 2017.
Refurbishment specialists, Key Property Solutions - part of the Bowmer and Kirkland Group of companies - will start the internal works on the offices next month with completion set for January 2019.
The refurbished offices will feature new facilities including bright open plan offices and communal areas.
Neil Sinclair, CEO of Palace Capital plc, said: “This building is in unique location in the City Centre and there is currently a lack of good quality office space throughout central York.
“It will be refurbished to the highest standards and brought back into full use.”
The building includes eight retail and cafe units in total: Costa Coffee; Demi John; two Brew and Brownie cafes; GBK; Bailey’s Café; Burr Coffee; and a new local business, Wilde and Westbrooke.
This particular shop has just opened, selling ladies country clothing. The deal was brokered by local commercial property agent Flanagan James.
Richard Flanagan of Flanagan James Property Consultants, who advised the owners of the property, added: “Before this shop unit was even being marketed, local businesswoman Laura Pipes expressed interest in taking a lease to run her new business.
“This proves that York remains popular for small independent retailers looking to fill a gap in the high street offer.”
The whole development also includes eight off-street car parking spaces in a private car park.
