Bolton charity benefits from Hilton Smythe sponsored shave
Hilton Smythe has raised £300 for Bolton Lads and Girls club with a twist on the ‘brave the shave’ format.
Aaron Roberts, Operation Manager at the Bolton-based business broker, is known for his meticulously maintained beard.
He agreed to have his facial hair completely shaved in exchange for sponsorship donations from his colleagues, their friends, and families.
Hilton Smythe is a Silver Corporate Patron of the charity, which offers year-round support for young people aged eight to 19, with young people with disabilities able to stay on until they are 21, through sports, arts, mentoring and community outreach.
The team raised more than £500 earlier in the year for the club with a ‘yellow and blue’ day at the office, with activities running throughout the day including sponsored waxings and throwing wet sponges at the management team.
Aaron ‘braved the shave’ at Peaky Barbers in Bolton, which opened a few weeks ago. The owner, Chris Borg, renovated the shop himself. Peaky Barbers offers luxury male treatments, including hot towel shaves, beard sculpt, skin fade, and the usual haircuts and beard trims, Aaron had the hot towel shave.
Aaron Roberts said: “I’m proud to work for Hilton Smythe, and always more than happy to support the fundraising days for the Bolton Lads and Girls Club. It’s a brilliant charity, and even though I love my beard, I was more than happy to shave it off in exchange for some cold, hard cash.
“Now, my only worry is that I’ll probably get asked for ID all the time.”
Craig Graham, Group Operations Director at Hilton Smythe, said: “We’re all incredibly proud of Aaron for his fundraising efforts. I’m in no doubt the Club will be delighted to get such a substantial donation so close to Christmas.
“Hilton Smythe always aims to be a good neighbour within the Bolton community, and looks for ways to give back to local charities. We take our position as Patrons of the Bolton Lads and Girls Club very seriously, and look forward to raising more money for them in the New Year.”
