Creative content studio invests £300k in new Leeds base
Photography and videography studio Powerhouse has relocated in Leeds with a £300k investment.
The company, whose clients include retailer M&S and food giant Kellogg’s, relocated this month after acquiring the 14,000 sq ft building in February.
Powerhouse carried out a nine-month renovation project to create a seven-studio base that will accommodate growth over the next 12 months.
The space includes nine kitchens, a daylight studio, prop house and ‘infinity cove’ for fashion clients such as La Redoute. Also built during the renovation were offices and breakout space for the firm’s 25-strong team.
Powerhouse managing director Neil Adams commented: “We […] need to be able to offer a flexible, affordable service for all clients. The extra space gives us plenty of capacity to deliver on this.
“We can scale up, with up to seven photographers working on the same project at the same time, in seven different studios, for example.”
He added: “It means the client gets a quick turnaround, while minimising costs and simultaneously ensuring brand consistency and quality.”
Powerhouse has also made several strategic hires, including Tom Gabbutt in the role of creative content director and Jo Kendall as executive producer.
Speaking further, Neil said: “Our new hires will help us to consolidate our growth plans over the next 12 months.
“Tom, for example, has helped us to offer something new to clients and agencies. Traditionally, photography studios have looked at the needs of a campaign or project in isolation.”
He continued: “We now take a holistic view at content needs; with photographers shooting simultaneously for different requirements, including social media, PR, advertising, direct marketing, and so on. It’s a very efficient, unique way to work.
“Jo is heading up this customer-focussed strategy, and we will continue to grow without compromising the quality and service we are synonymous with.”
Powerhouse was founded in 1999.
