This new app is aiming to change the way Londoners book fitness classes following funding
RIG, an app-based platform that connects users with boutique fitness classes across London, has received new investment.
Founded by entrepreneur Sam Harney, the free booking service is completely on-demand, which means users only pay for the classes they take and have no contractual obligations to RIG, or any of the studios they are visiting.
The app offers unbeatable rates to customers through its use of a pay-as-you-go Dynamic Pricing structure; a model that has taken hold in other industries such as travel and entertainment, but one that is evolving in the fitness industry too.
Sam Harney, founder of RIG, said: “There are plenty of fitness booking platforms in the marketplace that offer the variety that we do, but ultimately they come at a cost.
“At RIG, we offer a fuss-free model that harnesses the power of supply and demand in order to offer our customers the very best prices, for the very best boutique fitness studios across London.
“While the technology behind it is complex, the principle is simple. Classes in demand are sold at a premium, whilst classes with open spots will benefit from price drops of up to 50 per cent to drive up attendance.
“It’s a win-win situation for both our studios and our customers too.”
In addition to RIG’s attractive class prices for customers, the platform offers a competitive rate for studio partners too. RIG takes a booking fee of 10 per cent.
The platform is currently fully integrated with MINDBODY, and plans to integrate with other booking platforms early 2019.
Investment has been supported by New Hill Management to help strengthen RIG’s position in the UK market, and help the company’s international growth, too.
RIG began as a social fitness app company in 2016 reaching a social media footprint in excess of four million, but has since evolved to offer a class booking service that joins forces with London’s finest fitness studios such as Sweat by BXR and F45.
RIG aims to have over 150,000 active users by 2020.
