Hull duo to create jobs with new tech venture based at The Deep
Two Yorkshire businessmen have launched a new tech venture by relocating, rebranding and repositioning an existing company to offer services beyond traditional IT support.
Scott Clark and Leon McQuade have brought together a team of 10 to drive growth in Think Cloud, a business aiming to help companies navigate the ever-changing digital landscape.
The duo have set up shop at The Deep Business Centre in Hull, where they plan to create around 10 jobs and double their office footprint in the first few months of 2019.
Scott and Leon have worked together on projects for the last three years, although their business relationship stretches back more than a decade.
Scott is the founder of Virtual Networking Ltd, which he established in 2003 as a startup from a bedroom at his parents’ house. Today, his client network includes Humber Bridge Board, KCOM Stadium and Hull charity Andy’s Man Club.
Scott said: “Throughout this time I have help companies to utilise technology to improve efficiencies and, in some instances, provide a key advantage over their competition.”
Virtual Networking Ltd, now trading as Think Cloud, has moved to a 1,000 sq ft office at The Deep from a business park outside Hull, and repositioned itself to provide an expanded range of services.
Its approach is focussed on the idea that, due to the changing digital landscape, the accountancy and IT sectors will eventually merge into one.
Scott’s business partner in the venture, Leon, is a self-confessed “technology evangelist”. Over the last 20 years, Leon’s work has included driving five-fold growth at an established construction sector company, and commercial director roles contracted by Ralph Lauren, Versace and other brands.
Leon commented: “My dream is to make a dent in the universe by helping people to understand technology as a tool and enabling them to unleash their full potential.”
The Deep’s business and corporate manager, Freya Cross, said: “The launch of Think Cloud is a really exciting venture for Leon and Scott and for everybody here.
“Crucially their understanding of technology is all about how they can help businesses in ways which even the business owners haven’t thought of yet.”
She continued: “We’ve already seen Leon progress from operating here as a virtual tenant to becoming co-founder of a dynamic, new project and we look forward to providing more space and other support as Think Cloud builds a platform for ongoing expansion.”
