From Bricklayer to Sales Slayer
John Lee Moore, is not only celebrating promotion to Sales Manager at Swansway Chester Citroën, but also 5 years at the Bumpers Lane dealership.
His career path has been a rather unusual one, as John explained “I’m a time-served bricklayer, that was my trade and I enjoyed it, but when the recession hit, finding work became more and more difficult. My best mate was a Sales Manager at Swansway at the time and he told me they’d started recruiting for their new Citroën dealership”.
“Being honest I’d never considered car sales as a career before, I was quite happy with what I was doing, but I decided to apply for a trainee Sales Executive role, cross my fingers and see what happened”!
The rest is history as John was recruited to the role and he’s never looked back; Swansway Chester Operations Director, Andrew Wakelin commented, “John was used to hard work was enthusiastic and had a real can-do attitude; from the start he was impressive, always going the extra mile to help customers and the rest of his team and he always has a smile on his face”.
John’s work ethic has led to several promotions, even though he’s only been at the dealership 5 years and started with no experience, “I started as a Sales Trainee, then was a fully-fledged Sales Executive, then a Senior Sales Exec, then Business Manager in charge of finance and now Sales Manager”.
“I’ve not finished though; my aim is to be Head of Business and I see no reason at all why I can’t achieve it. To anyone worrying about the job they’re in and thinking about making a career change, I’d say, go for it, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done, so much so that I’ve moved to Chester to be closer to work! I love it”!
John’s an avid football fan and enjoys the fact the dealership is just opposite Chester FC’s ground, “I do love my football, though apologies to Chester FC, I’m a massive Everton fan”, added John, who like to get down to Goodsion Park in his spare time.
