Avant Homes seals approval for 110 new homes in County Durham
Plans to create 110 new homes as part of a new housing scheme in County Durham have been approved.
The move will see regional housebuilder Avant Homes deliver a development of its new Bridgerange of homes in the second phase of the £36m ‘Peerfields’ development on land located off the Durham Road, in Chilton.
The three and four-bedroom properties, will ensure prospective first-time buyers and families have access to a more readily available supply of quality and accessible housing in Chilton.
They are part of a five-year build scheme for the 14-acre site, which has already led to the creation several local construction and sales jobs.
Scott Varley, managing director of Avant Homes, said: “We’re delighted to now be able to move to the next phase of our plans to deliver further high-quality homes in Chilton.
“There is so much potential in the region and there is a need for more homes that are not only suitable for today’s modern buyers in the region, but also exceed their expectations and are more than capable of living up to the demands of contemporary living.”
This news is the culmination of three months of negotiations between the local authority and Hexham-based Hedley Planning Services.
Joe Ridgeon, Hedley planning services’ associate, has secured approval for the project, convincing planning committee members to grant permission for the latest phase of a scheme attracting interest from homeowners.
Welcoming the council’s decision, he said that it’s a big step forward in delivering much-needed family homes, adding: “Working closely with the planning authority and the developers from the outset has been invaluable in securing planning approval.
“As planners, we want to see the creation of exciting and rewarding housing schemes that leave a long-lasting legacy. This one will undoubtedly see a real positive change to this part of County Durham.”
